Gold with distinction, Silver with distinction and a Silver award in Canon AIPP Awards 2014.
Aguiar Photography’s main photographer, Jose, has received the results of his submission to the AIPP – Canon awards 2014.
This photography competition is an annual event where professional photographers submit their work to be judged by other professionals.
Each image is presented to a panel of professionals and each one gives a score to the image. The final score is the majority of the individual scores.
When the judges score vary more than 5 points, they start a very interesting debate of the technical and artistic characteristics of the image. In this page you can watch the judging of these images.
The following are guidelines used by the Judges when scoring an image :
95 – 100 Gold with Distinction- “Exceptional Execution, distinctive visual communication with exceptional levels of creativity, interpretation and emotion”
90 – 94 Gold – “Excellence in Execution, superb visual communication, interpretation or emotion”
85 – 89 Silver with Distinction – “Superior execution, very high standard of Professional Practice with superior visual communication, interpretation or emotion”
80 – 84 Silver – “AIPP Award Level, Exceeds standard of Professional Practice with high levels of imagination, craft or skill”
78 – 79 Half merit point, not quite full Award standard – “Approaching Award Level”
70 – 77 Below award standard – “Professional Practice – Below Award Level, expected standard of a professional, showing proficiency in execution and technique, but does not meet AIPP Award criteria”
68 – 69 Approaching Professional Practice
50 – 67 Below Professional Practice
Some interesting statistics:
There were 759 entrants submitting 2789 images and only 21 images achieved the Gold with Distinction award (0.8%). There were 256 that achieved a Silver with Distinction award (9.2%) and 907 images achieved a Silver award (32.5%).
